I have been long saying this and America fell behind because of the GOP. The GOP obviously has a vested interest in keeping information speeds low so as to prevent (or, at least delay) the uncovering of their lies. During the Bush Administration, the United States fell behind Europe and Japan in Internet speeds. While Comcast and Verizon were raving about 10MBit downloads, Japan had 100Mbit to the homes. For Japan, 10Mbit was so 1998.
