Congressman McDermott stepped up to the plate for the unemployed American, stating the need to work on jobs creation and to protect those unemployed before the end of next month. He did so by proposing a motion to request the move to suspend the rules and pass bill H.R. 4851, also known as the Continuing Extension Act of 2010.

On the United States Senate floor today, Senator Specter expressed disagreement with the way the US is handling the recent events surrounding the announcement of 1,600 new settlements in East Jerusalem. He questioned if all the facts were known and warned about condemning the Israelis without further investigation of the facts.

To quickly summarize the Tax Extenders Bill (H.R. 4213), this bill will extend the filing deadline for existing tiers of unemployment benefits through December 31, 2010 along with “extending” COBRA benefit subsidies for the American unemployed. The bill also contains several tax provisions (more than one can count) and an extension of the current rate of Medicare payments to doctors.

According to a Rapid Response email received moments ago from the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, the House had to rush to ban fake Census letter being sent out by the Republican National Committee.

These mailings disguised as Census Letter were simply a fundraising “tactic” set-up and paid for by the RNC.

The formal bill will now contain 67 separate amendments with a scheduled vote this afternoon at 2:30pm EST to end all debate on amendments to the bill. Currently, the Senate is one vote short of the 60 needed to get the bill, being stalled by the GOP, moving again.

Senator Reid is hoping to invoke cloture to prevent a filibuster on the new bill containing a one year extension of unemployment and other measures. With votes suspended for today and Monday, Reid stated that they were still in the process of working out the specifics on this bill.

This “bill” must be the most well kept secret in Washington. As of this writing WorldNewsVine has not received a return phone call requesting details of the bill. The bill is said to provide a one year extension of unemployment benefits, still no word on what the verbiage regarding this “extension” is.

The House today passed the $15 billion dollar jobs bill introduced by the Senate last week addressing Job Creation.

The Senate is already moved on to its next job proposal, taking up $150 billion bill that would provide a longer term extension of popular tax breaks, unemployment benefits, and other provisions however, it still unclear as to how this would or would it add additional “weeks” of benefits to the unemployed.
