Las Vegas, NV (Nov 2014) The Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA), a non-profit trade association, held its annual convention November 4-7, 2014 at The Las Vegas Convention Center, Las Vegas, NV. An estimated 140,000 attended with some 2,500 exhibiting companies. Exhibitors included manufacturers of automotive accessories, 13 major automakers, and leading aftermarket manufacturers. Buyers connected with manufacturers and attended dozens of education seminars focusing on business strategies, customer service, and online marketing. But the biggest addition to the SEMA show this year was the official after party, SEMA Ignited.
The SEMA show included 1500 featured vehicles in both exhibitors’ booths and throughout the convention floor, and 2,000 new products. Among the celebrities who signed autographs for the fans: Richard Rawlings from Discover Channel’s Fast N’ Loud Show and Gas Monkey Garage in the Ingersoll Rand booth; NASCAR champion Brad Kesolowski in the ODYSSEY Battery by EnerSys booth; “The King” Richard Petty in the MagnaFlow booth and Continental booth; Chip Foose, Host of Velocity’s Overhaulin’, signed autographs for the fans, and also filmed his show “Overhaulin”. during SEMA ; Kurt Busch and Danica Patrick, NASCAR Driver’s for Stewart Haas in the General Motors Corporation booth; and, the very special and youngest racing athlete Nick Loden, age 10, in the Ingersoll Rand booth.
SEMA is open to professionals involved in the automotive aftermarket industry and closed to the general public. However, the first official SEMA Show after party, SEMA Ignited, was held this year at the LINQ Hotel parking lot, and everyone was invited. It was estimated that more than 10,000 attended and the party was a huge success. The first Battle of the Builders™ competition was held at SEMA Ignited, and Kyle Tucker became the very first winner of this competition. The event was filmed by the producers and will air on the Velocity Network TV show highlighting vehicle customizers on March 8, 2015.
In addition to SEMA organizing the aftermarket industry show, they also offer members research, training, education, manufacturing support services, legislative advocacy, group-buying discounts, networking events and much more.
