Over 200 persons feared dead in an early morning suicide bomb attack at a popular metro bus station in Abuja, Nigerias federal capital city.
The bomb blast occurred at about 7 am, early morning rush hour, at the Nyanya bus terminus, a 10 minutes drive from Aso Villa, Nigerias presidential seat of government.
Unverified eye witness report indicates that the bomb may have been carried to the metro bus station in a vehicle with 4 male occupants, while some say that the bomb was inside one of the Metro buses, popularly called El-Rufai Buses.
Several dead bodies now litter the blood spattered park and the expressway leading to the city. The casualty figure is said to be over 200. Some of the dead and injured were taken to the Nyanya and Asokoro general hospitals by officials of the Federal Road Safety Commission, Civil Defense corp., the Police and personnel of the Nigeria Emergency Management Agency NEMA.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
