CES 2014 | Promoting The Industry – Business Meets Innovation

Las Vegas, NV (Jan. 2014) The 2014 International CES® convention was held at the Las Vegas Convention Center with conferences, parties, and exhibitors extending to The LVH Hotel and Casino, The Venetian® Hotel and Casino, The Mirage® Hotel and Casino, Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino, and The Wynn Las Vegas. International CES, owned and operated by The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA), featured more than 3,000 exhibitors with over 150,000 attendees.   Consumer technologies were showcased throughout the convention with products ready to hit retail shelves.  Others still in prototype made their debut on the showroom floor.

CES Unveiled, the official media event of CES, was the first CES party for the media and exhibitors.  More than 70 companies introduced their latest products before the official opening of CES.  Pepcom’s Digital Experience, produced for the press with approximately 200 top tech companies, showcased products in a more intimate setting.  With outstanding food and beverages, this year’s theme was “The Wonderful Gizmos of Oz”. Pepcom is a much anticipated media event. The Bluetooth Media & Demo Event, with Bluetooth SIG and its member companies showcased their latest gadgets and apps in health and medical, sports and fitness, retail, and home automation. Food and beverages were served.

TigerDirect.com, a subsidiary of Systemax, and title sponsor Lenovo hosted the sixteenth annual “Build Your Own PC Race”.  Two separate PC events were held with the traditional “Charity PC Race” for journalists, and the second Annual “Consumer National Finals”.  Contestants for the two races were tasked with assembling PCs in the fastest time.  Results of the 16th Annual Charity PC Race:   First Place: Benjamin Heide of BCC Hardware beat out his competitors with a time of 6 minutes 13 seconds with $10,000 donated to Alberta Children’s Hospital. Second Place: Anshel Sag of Bright Side of News; $2,500 donated to Wounded Warrior.  Third Place:  Rob Squires of Fudzilla; $1,000 donated to Mendenhall Middle School. Final Results for the second Annual Consumer National Finals:  First Place:  Damian Muzzi of Christiana, DE beat out his competitors with a time of 6 minutes 31 seconds; $1,000 donated to Delaware SPCA and a $1,000 TigerDirect gift card for the racer. Second Place:  Andrew Synder of Raleigh, NC; $500 donated to Wounded Warrior and a $500 TigerDirect gift card for the racer. Third Place:  Thomas Arvizu of Jefferson, GA; $250 donated to Wounded Warrior and a $250 TigerDirect gift card for the racer.  The custom gaming PC, assembled by sponsor Cyberpower PC, and associated hardware get to be retained by each racer.  Food and beverages were served during the event.
