The 2012 LSR racing season begins the last weekend of April at the newly relocated ECTA venue, the Wilmington, Ohio Mile, and The Royal Purple Maxx2Racing ‘Bad Bird’ LSR Race Car will be there. The M2 Team, based out of Northern Nevada, travels to the newest LSR facility in the country. With the military retaking the former Maxton, NC facilities, the promoters located a great site within a reasonable driving range of many. Our decision to travel over 2,300 miles was easy, as we felt we could set multiple records at the new facility, depending on the entry field, and the desire to continue our quest for 200 club recognition. Join us at the inaugural Wilmington, Ohio ECTA Mile event, April 27-29. You will see some of the fastest cars, running a full mile. The new location has a surface that is 9000 feet long, and 150 feet wide.
Of note is the fact that several of our sponsors have made plans to be at the event, with the full intention of being with our team and crew for most if not all of the entire weekend, as they are part of our M2 Team family. We will not disappoint, as the motor for the car has been upgraded, adding horsepower to an already awesome power plant. Daryl White, owner of Revolutionary Performance and Machine based in White House Tennessee, spent countless weeks and hours to prepare the motor for the upcoming 2012 racing season. The install of the motor takes place the later part of this month, as we meet up with Daryl for this all important step to achieve our goals set when we formed the Maxx2Racing Team.
Again, without the full and complete support of all of our sponsors, which includes both race cars, this article wouldn’t be written. That begins with Royal Purple Synthetics, who announced in December that they were also sponsoring The Royal Purple ’99 Firebird LSR Race Car-Highway Hauler, our newest ‘Build’. Without the full support of Randy Fisher, Aline Peoples, and Marlena Solomon, we would be stuck in reverse. When we were unable to participate in this past years’ August Bonneville event because of circumstances beyond our control, Randy flatly stated that these things can happen. At the SEMA Show, Aline and Marlena stepped up big time to have the ‘Bad Bird’ in a great location, and honored out desire to have the car wrapped at the show, with an overwhelming attendance to watch the car being wrapped ‘Live’. Dane Buckley of Point Imaging made sure only the best 3M materials were provided for the car, with Shareef Kahn, owner of SSC-SS Customs doing the honors.
The Royal Purple ‘Brag Board’ included the specs of the car, and the sponsors-participating sponsors-suppliers for the car, including Auto Meter, ARP, DJ Safety, ProSystemsRacing(Carbs), Ice Ignition, Comp Cams, Total Seal Piston Rings, K&N, Ric Donofrio, owner/CAVALLINOS Exotic Car Collision Center, BowTie Overdrives, CMF Fabrication/Tony Taylor, Revolutionary Performance and Machine/RP ‘Bad Bird’ Motor Builder, Bob Lucas/Co-driver-Sponsor.
For 2012, our newest ‘Official Sponsors’, include Dynamat, Ron Francis Wireworks, Mahle/Clevite, Total Seal Piston Rings, plus participating sponsors UMI Performance, Jet-Hot, Comp Cams, and Team WIX, adding to an already impressive list of top name companies in the automotive field. Adding their expertise on the ’99 Firebird ‘Build’ are Jason Barrick, fabrication, and Troy (The ‘Toy Man’), bodywork.
Next up after The Wilmington Ohio event, the Mojave Magnum 1.5 Mile event the first weekend of June at the Mojave Air and Space Port, site of multiple aviation achievements. With the motor upgrades, we will see records set in the car, plus new 200 Club recognition by the drivers. Following these 2 great events, the ‘Bad Bird’ heads to the Famed Bonneville Salt Flats in August, with our longtime goal of breaking the speed mark for a Nascar Bodied Car being met.
Media attention is vital to the growing list of sponsors on the cars, as without this media attention, sponsors wouldn’t continue to add to their sponsorships, and prospective sponsors wouldn’t consider their participation. This very publication, WorldNewsVine, and now, their new publication, The AssociatedNewsNetwork, officially run articles on the Maxx2racing Team as we continue to set records across the country. A special thanks to all at this great media company who love auto racing of all types, with a continuing interest in our team.

We are honored to be featured on a regular basis on the BonnevilleRacing.com website, and yes, we do consider this a feather in the cap of Maxx2Racing’s long list of accomplishments. Here’s the link to that write-up by the site, which includes pictures and videos of the car itself-

Of considerable note are 2 of the records set by the Royal Purple ‘Bad Bird’, one at the Mojave Mile in Calif, one at the LTA Loring 1.5 Mile in Maine. These were set by one of the top Land Speed Drivers. David Haas, a surgeon by profession, and a longtime friend of the Maxx2Racing Team, added to his 200 MPH records, and now holds the record for most 200 Clubs in Land Speed Racing. David is also in the prestigious 300 Club at the Famed Bonneville Salt Flats, driving the Haas Streamliner.
We have detailed our racing event schedule, but what about our car show event schedule for 2012.
The Royal Purple ’99 Firebird LSR Race Car-Highway Hauler
The ’99 won’t have quite the smooth edges as cars such as Denny Terzich’s SR61 Starliner, as it’s also a LSR Race Car, and we are not allowed to grind the welds. As noted in our Sponsorship Presentations for the 2011 SEMA Show, the ’99 Firebird ‘Will Be’ in a sponsor’s booth for 2012, as it’s being built to show quality. Yes, it’s not one of those trailer queens that you see (Which we would love to own, but can’t afford), but will make each and every sponsor of our Maxx2Racing Team honored to be associated with.
What you see in the website below is the ‘Buildup’ of the car, something that is nearing completion as we write this. The Firebird, in its ‘Brilliant Black’ and Royal Purple colors, is being built to ‘Show Quality’, yet, will still be a Land Speed Race Car of note. Not a rarity? Actually, the car will be highway driven, and compete at various LSR events for 2012, running at 200 and above. One can take a nice weekend drive, an enjoyable experience, without that feel of harshness. The UMI Suspension Components, along with the RideTech Air Suspension System will provide a ride you normally do not see in these cars.
The Firebird, yet to be officially named, will be featured at multiple Northern, Central, and Southern Nevada and California car shows, Summit Racing Events, plus Hot August Nights (HAN) satellite events at the Hotel-Casinos in the Reno-Sparks-Tahoe area. Hot August Nights attracts 6,000 registered vehicles (’72 and older), with up to 20,000-25,000 additional vehicles attending the Off-Site events. We have also applied to show the car at one of the GoodGuys events, and await official notification from their staff.
For 2013, the Firebird will be at the April ECTA Ohio event to challenge for the Hot Rod Magazine Top Speed Challenge in both the Street and Super Street classes, hopefully bringing home both awards.
View the ‘Build’ of the car in our fully equipped oversized one car shop, including the required four post Bend Pak lift, at the website(s) shown below, noting that the site is updated on a continuing basis. Note: You will also see our first LSR car, a ’69 El Camino, which we sold as a “Roller” in 2010-

With the ‘Custom Aluminum Race Dash’ permanently installed, we will complete the installation of the Dynamat, and the Auto Meter Gauges, and Ron Francis Wiring. We have now cut out a section for the gauges to be installed into, as we don’t want to have to lay on our backs on the floor for hours to install the gauges and wiring, which we did on our ’69 El Camino.
Charity participation is also vital and important to the Maxx2racing Team. We have partnered with Racing 2 Cure, a top rated Non-profit dedicated to helping families fighting cancer through motorsports events across the country. Their history and what they have accomplished are one of the greatest scenarios you will ever read of. This great group doesn’t sit still, traveling to regional and national races and race related events, providing Racing 2 Cure the platform to raise funds and awareness to support their mission. We proudly display the Racing 2 Cure Logos on our race cars. https://www.racing2cure.org/drivers/Maxx2Racing
Wounded Warrior Project (WWP). Our team has been honored to have their Logos-Decals on our cars, and will continue this throughout this year, and the coming years. http://www.woundedwarriorproject.org/
We would be remiss if we didn’t give a special thanks to Mike Cook, a great member of the Land Speed Racing community, a longtime family member of the Cook family of race car builders and owners of business related companies. Mike was instrumental in providing assistance and insight into what is needed to run the Royal Purple ‘Bad Bird’ at this years’ August Speed Week at the Bonneville Salt Flats.
Other sponsorship announcements coming often, and soon.
