Troy (The ‘Toy Man’) Hancock. Troy is a longtime friend, with a background in bodywork/painting, and upholstery. Troy spent many hours massaging the paint to where it looked awesome, something that we fully appreciate. Troy also is one of those who you can call at any time for assistance on anything and everything, and he always is available.

Shareef Khan, SSC-SS Customs, http://sscustomsweb.com/, Redwood City, Calif. He was highly recommended by Bob Lucas, and performed flawlessly at the show. Shareef is a professional in every way, and will wrap the ’99 Firebird (‘Bad Bird II’?) after it is painted ‘Brilliant Black’ by Tony (Taylor).

All of these Sponsors-Suppliers-Friends attended the SEMA Show at great expense to themselves, and we can’t thank them enough for their past and current support of the Maxx2Racing Team.

Alex Ozark. Alex, along with his friend Earl Merz, are the official photographers for the car at the Mojave Mile, and are great friends of the Maxx2Racing Team. Alex attended the show, with a career as Durability Evaluation Engineer Vehicle Evaluation, Hyundai-Kia Motors. Alex is a test driver at the Hyundai-Kia Tech Center, which is their proving grounds just a few miles from the Mojave Spaceport-Airport where they run the Mojave Mile.

Patrick James, owner, Pro Systems Racing Carburetors. Patrick built the Dual Carb setup for the RP ‘Bad Bird’, and is sponsoring the Racing Carb setup for the ’99 Pontiac Firebird ‘Build’. Find ProSystems at http://www.prosystemsracing.com/.

Michael Konstandinou, owner ICE Ignition System, CHELTENHAM VIC, Australia. The RP ‘Bad Bird’ features their entire ignition system on the car, with Michael supporting the Maxx2Racing Team as needed. Find ICE Ignitions Systems at http://www.iceignition.com/.

Stan Boyd, Owner EVI (Engineered Victories, Inc), Davison and Swartz Creek, MI. Stan sponsored the 2011 dyno sessions on the RP ‘Bad Bird’, and was instrumental in the first repainting of the car in early 2011. We were formally introduced to Brenda Hyatt, Journalist, and Donald Scelzo, Photographer of WorldNewsVine at the SEMA Show. They had heard that the ‘Bad Bird’ was to be wrapped at the show, taking before and after pictures. They have printed the SEMA Show articles in their publication, with The Royal Purple Maxx2Racing ‘Bad Bird’ LSR Race Car in the featured front page article. Being on the same page (Including pictures of the car itself) with Racing Legends Mario Andretti, Parnelli Jones and his son PJ Jones, the King of the Kustomizers George Barris, Chip Foose, NASCAR’s Brad Keselowski and David Ragan, and Indy Car Driver Helio Castroneves, is ‘Awesome’ for Royal Purple, and the Maxx2Racing Team to say the least.

We meet with most if not all of the Sponsors/RP ‘Brag Board’ companies on the car during the week, most of them being ‘Exhibitors’ at the show. We’ll see what they have to offer for 2012, noting that we can’t campaign both cars next year without their financial assistance, as the economy continues to lag.

Going forward, the companies shown on the RP ‘Brag Board’ are stepping forward to assist in the building of the new ’99 Pontiac Firebird project. Not shown on the brag board, but providing supplier discounts are RideTech, UMI, and others to be soon announced.

Race cars such as the RP ‘Bad Bird’ and are maintenance intensive, therefore, upgrades are required on a timely basis to keep the car in top running condition at all times. As the sanctioning bodies of LSR upgrade and change their specifications, each and every item will need to be upgraded. That will involve more sponsorship participation in the car itself, and we are now seeing companies step forward with funding and/or products for both race cars.

As noted earlier, our goals for 2012 include running both cars at the Famed Bonneville Salt Flats, setting records whenever possible, plus as noted, we will test the Firebird at the April 2012 Mojave Mile, and then go for multiple records at the event. Another goal that is achievable is having the ’99 Firebird at the 2012 SEMA Show, this time in a booth, something that we know can and will happen.
