Las Vegas, NV (Oct 19) – Anderson Cooper moderated the Western Republican Presidential Debate held at the Sands Convention Center/Venetian Resort Hotel in Las Vegas Tuesday by the end of the evening Cooper appeared more like a boxing referee at an HBO Vegas fight than a CNN anchor.

The Republican Presidential candidates attending the debate; Former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney; Texas Governor Rick Perry; The former president and CEO of Godfather’s Pizza, Herman Cain; Texas Congressman Ron Paul; The former Speaker of the House, Newt Gingrich; The former U.S. Senator from Pennsylvania, Rick Santorum; and Minnesota Congresswoman, Michele Bachmann.

Herman Cain with his 9-9-9 plan was the first to be bullied with the debate becoming heated at times. Cain’s plan consists of equal parts; sales tax, income tax, and corporate tax strongly criticized by Congresswoman Bachmann. Bachmann, “As a former federal tax litigation attorney and current member of Congress, give Congress a new tax and it doesn’t go away give Congress a 9 percent sales tax, how long will it take a liberal president and a liberal Congress to run that up to maybe 90 percent”.

Cain defended his plan by encouraging people to go to his website, hermancain.com and read the analysis”. He stated, “It is a jobs plan, revenue-neutral, and does not raise taxes on those that are making the least. The reason that my plan is being attacked so much is because lobbyists, accountants, politicians, they don’t want to throw out the current tax code and put in something that’s simple and fair”. He added, “They want to continue to be able to manipulate the American people with a 10-million-word mess”.

Senator Santorum’s response to Cain’s plan was, “when you don’t provide a standard deduction, when you don’t provide anything for low-income individuals, and you have a sales tax and an income tax, which is really what his corporate tax is, we’re talking about major increases in taxes on people”.

The attack on Cain’s plan continued with no candidate having a proven winning plan. Governor Perry did not offer a plan.

Perry and Romney debated immigration briefly with Perry stating, “Illegal’s are coming into this country because the federal government has failed to secure the border and they’re coming here because there is a magnet and the magnet is called jobs”. Perry added, “Those people that hire illegal ought to be penalized”.

Perry continued, “And Mitt, you lose all of your standing, from my perspective, because you hired illegal’s in your home and you knew about it for a year”. After a short moment of thinking about the comment, Romney fired back, “I’ve never hired an illegal in my life” going on to say “we hired a lawn company to mow our lawn, and they had illegal immigrants that were working there, and when that was pointed out to us, we let them go”.
