The Illegal Act Of Singing A Song And Blessing Yourself

Scotland (Jun 28) – Proposed new laws in Scotland could see people jailed for singing the national anthem of Great Britain or making the sign of the cross in a new bid to deal with the ongoing sectarian problems between two groups of imbeciles.

As small a minority as these imbeciles may be, as we have learned from history, it only takes a small number of idiots to start the biggest amount of trouble.

Scotland has a long history of sectarian problems, largely thanks to people claiming to be of a certain religion without having read the damn book on it. In Scotland it is black and white, religious divide is represented by two football teams. That’s soccer to everyone else.

It is deeply depressing to wake up and read things like this in the news when it is happening in your own country. I live in a country where not only would someone get upset about a song or an act of religious worship, but in this country there are people who would use those things in an aggressive manner. In particular, that is a swipe at aggressive blessing of oneself. At this moment of time I cannot think or a better example of hypocrisy and idiocy.

The laws have been laughed at and ridiculed and, perhaps, rightly so, but there doesn’t seem to be a better idea. Sectarianism is a cancer eating away at the country I live in.

People are a product of their environment. This is true anywhere from Scotland to Iran. Radical and badly informed parents breed radical, badly informed children.

Tribe mentality will make you oblivious to reason and is a very damaging thing. Jailing people for such things as blessing yourself or singing the national anthem is never going to work. There are too many people in jail as it is, and if you jailed everyone who did it on any given weekend alone then that overcrowding would increase tenfold over night.

It is a ridiculous thing. The whole thing. The football isn’t even that good. And if someone singing about the Queen or praising Jesus by making the sign of the thing he was nailed to makes you angry then it is your own issues, it isn’t the fault of the person doing it. If anything, it should be the people reacting to it that should be thrown in jail.

No one likes to be told they are wrong. Nevertheless, see if you hate someone because of his or her religious beliefs, you are missing the point of the whole thing. You are in deep, but you have the wrong grasp entirely. It really is quite incredible. These people will never know just how similar they are to the people they hate.
