New York Giants at Minnesota Vikings Game Rescheduled for Monday night | Update

By Gary W. Marchese Jr.

Minneapolis, MN (Dec 12) – The New York Giants were all set to take on the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday afternoon. They were on their way there when their plane was forced to land in Kansas City due to weather conditions in Minnesota.

The Giants were going to leave early in the morning but the NFL looked at it and just said that would be too much for them and canceled tomorrows game.

Here are some news and notes to prepare you for Monday night’s game.

The Giants are 8-4 and the Vikings are 5-7, the Giants are looking to win their division and get into the playoffs the Vikings are looking for a miracle, or finish the season strong. The Giants have won two games in a row and are in a first place tie with the Philadelphia Eagles who will take on the Dallas Cowboys in Dallas Sunday night.

The Giants rolled to a 31-7 win last week against the Redskins behind a strong running game. The Giants and Vikings have met 21 times in their history during the regular season. The Vikings lead the series 13-8 winning the last four in a over the Giants.

The Giants lost the regular season finale last year in Minnesota 44-7, and are looking to erase that loss with a victory on Monday night.

Darius Reynaud played in 14 games over two seasons with the Vikings. He returned 12 kickoffs for 291 yards, for an average of 24.4 yards per return. He also returned 30 punts for 308 yards, for an average of 10.3 yards per return. Sage Rosenfels is the Giants backup and played the 2009 season as Minnesota’s third QB.

Tightend Visanthe Shiancoe played in 64 regular season games with the Giants from 2003-06 with 23 starts. He caught 37 passes for 261 yards and had three touchdowns with the Giants. The Giants are 4-6 in Minnesota including 4-3 at the Mall of America Field. Tom Coughlin is 2-5 against the Vikings and 1-4 with the Giants.

Eli Manning has appeared in five games with four starts in his career against the Vikings. He has not done well with a 0-4 and 0-2 record at home and on the road; Manning has a 51.8 completion percentage for 824 yards and two touchdowns. He has thrown nine interceptions and has a QB rating of 47.8. He has been sacked nine times for a loss of 75 yards.

This game will be indoors is usually good sign for the Giants. They have not played well in Minneapolis but the Giants are also expected to get back at least three of their starters. Steve Smith and Hakeem Nicks who are both receivers will be back along with David Diehl an offensive lineman. Sean O’Hara may also return at center.

The Giants are getting healthy at the right time. The Giants have had a great offense this season and should be able to open it up a little bit once again and put some points on the board. I look for the Giants to establish the run.

The Giants defense will look to knock out Brett Favre if he plays.

Jason Pierre-Paul has really come on lately and could be a candidate for rookie of the year. Justin Tuck and Osi are at the ends and have both played well this year, the Giants secondary have played well this season along with a great pass rush, the Giants hope to take the win.

My prediction, Giants will win this game by the score of 31-24.

With a win against the Vikings they will be tied for first place as they match-up against the Eagles at home next weeked.
