President Obama Affirms Commitment to America’s Workers and Middle Class

Washington, D.C. (Sept 05) – During yesterdays weekly address, President Obama reaffirmed his commitment to America’s workers and middle class by investing in infrastructure projects, private sector jobs, and small businesses.

With the declination of America’s middle and working classes over the past decade, American’s have been burdened with both shoring up shrinking tax coffers while enduring shrinking income as, wealthy American’s have reaped in the harvest from GOP tax breaks geared towards the upper 5 percent of America’s workforce.

President Obama also mentioned the upcoming Labor Day holiday, as a day to honor the American worker, that has for generations, been the backbone of the global economy.

In remembrance of those once proud American workers, abandoned by the Republican Party the President remarked, “[sic]… For a decade, middle class families felt the sting of stagnant incomes and declining economic security.  Companies were rewarded with tax breaks for creating jobs overseas.  Wall Street firms turned huge profits by taking, in some cases, reckless risks and cutting corners.  All of this came at the expense of working Americans, who were fighting harder and harder just to stay afloat – often borrowing against inflated home values to pay their bills.  Ultimately, the house of cards collapsed.”

Many projects designed and already implemented by his Administration, are placing some unemployed American’s back to work, investments in roads, bridges and high-speed railroads unfortunately, the Republican Party remains committed to blocking further plans designed to expand our nations growth.

Just recently, emergency measures were implemented to prevent the lay-offs of millions of teachers and police officers. The bill underwent a tough battle in the Senate eventually overcoming the GOP blockade at the expense of, Americans that have lost their employment, exhausted all their emergency unemployment extensions, and had to turn to food stamps for survival.

The Republican minority in the Senate, once again abandoned the lower and middle class by blocking the rescinding of the Foreign Tax Credits to raise funds to pay for this bill instead, stole the food from the mouths of those that could least afford it by, cutting back on the food stamp program. …continued
