More Marijuana Seized Near Mexico U.S. Border

Del Rio, TX (Sept 02) – It seems unbelievable and unimaginable, Tuesday Customs and Border Patrol Agents seize another $2 million of pot. More than likely a small portion of narcotics being captured while smuggled into the U.S. from Mexico.

Canine units alerted agents working a checkpoint on Highway 57 near Del Rio, Texas that an 18-wheeler tanker trailer was probably hauling illegal narcotics amongst its cargo. The vehicle was ordered to a secondary inspection station where, agents popped the top to the tanker and located 60 large bundles of marijuana.

The stash weighed in at over 2,477 pounds bundled into 1,199 smaller sized bricks with an estimated street value over $2 million.

That was not the end of the day’s discoveries, a little over an hour later; agents working a ranch south of Eagle Pass discovered six bundles of pot, stashed under a bush. That find, weighed in at just over 371 pounds estimated to be worth, $296,000.

This is an incredible amount of marijuana, combined with what is known to be grown in Northern California alone, one must wonder whom, is winning the war, taxpayers or criminals.

In both of the unrelated instances in Texas, all the narcotics were turned over to the DEA, no mention of arrests were made.
