I am ready to do something.

Silver Springs, MD (Sept 1) – An environmental activist has taken an unknown number of employees of the Discovery Channel hostage, in the lobby of their corporate headquarters in Silver Springs, Maryland. The situation has been dragging on for hours with hopes of hostage negotiators to settle the matter peacefully.

The gunman, James Jay Lee, of Silver Springs, Maryland has a prior arrest record involving protesting against the Discovery Channel dating back to 2008 where, the gunmen was arrested for littering, throwing money into the air, along with leaflets while protesting.

On the gunmen’s MySpace page, a message has been posted clearly calling for revolution.

Lee, is said to be armed with a handgun, and claims the metal containers strapped to his body contain explosives.

Authorities, SWAT along with federal, state, have closed roads leading up to and around the building and local agencies are on the scene.

A manifesto of some sort has said to have been released by Lee, and accepted by unknown recipients within the building.

UPDATE -

The incident has ended, the gunman has been shot, no reports of other injuries, the device strapped to the gunman did go off, emitting “smoke” but no explosions.

More explosive devices have been located, no word on the condition of the suspect other than, he is in custody…
