Houston, TX (Aug 14) – With record numbers of unemployed and homeless, The Bread of Life, Inc., has taken this serious issue above and beyond to ensure distressed citizens of Houston have a place to sleep each night.
The “After Dark” program provides housing for as many as 150 homeless clients each night. For the past year, Bread of Life, Inc., which is celebrating its “After Dark” first year anniversary today, August 14th, has been instrumental in providing overnight shelter, hot meals, showers, laundry services, legal services, medical services, mental health services, workforce and job placement services, and helping clients interact with referral services in the Houston downtown area.
After Dark partners with additional organizations such as MHMRA, Lone Star Legal Aid, Ultimate Changes, Inc., and Planned Parenthood.
“On any given day in Houston there are upwards of 14,000 homeless people in need of shelter, hot meals, and supportive services within Houston. Recognizing that homelessness was more than an 8-5 issue, issue Bread of Life, Inc. developed the After Dark program to address the matter of homelessness and community safety head on,” stated Jackson Matthew, media contact for Bread of Life, Inc.
Founded in December, 1992, The Bread of Life, Inc., is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization. Its mission is to provide solutions for the homeless, food for the hungry, and “Sustaining, Equipping, and Transforming the forgotten – with compassion.”
