NY, NY (Aug 25) – Customs and Border Protection Agents have had a busy couple of days arresting suspects in separate narcotics cases.
What would seem like a never-ending task for the Agents, persistence, and hard work continues to pay off Monday as, U.S. Border Patrol Agents seized over a half-million dollars worth of liquid methamphetamine.
Agents working the I-8 checkpoint near Winterhaven, California spotted as suspicious vehicle and driver entering their location. The driver of the blue SUV was referred to a secondary inspection area where agents discovered a suspicious oily substance in the vehicles window washer reservoir. The status of the driver is unknown.
Yesterday, around 12:30 p.m. CBP Marine interdiction agents on patrol stopped a U.S. citizen. A follow-up search of his vessel was conducted whereas; agents located 144 pounds of methamphetamine and 10 pounds of cocaine hidden in a compartment onboard.
The boat and owner of the vessel were taken into custody just outside of Mission Bay, San Diego. Agents estimated the haul worth, $3 million turning out to be the largest methamphetamine seizure at sea off the San Diego coast.
Earlier today, agents following-up on suspicious activity near a levee north of Rio Grande seized more than 100 pounds of cocaine. A CBP Marine Air and Marine helicopter responded to assist agents on the ground, as six men fled a 2002 Pontiac Grand Am as agents moved in.
Inside the vehicle, 53 bricks of cocaine valued at nearly $4 million dollars was recovered.
U.S. Customs and Borer Protections mission once again, has proven a successful method for intervention of narcotics into the U.S. maintaining the security and protection for American citizens.
