Reports Indicate Pakistan Actively Aiding Insurgency in Afghanistan during the Bush Administration

New York, NY (July 27) – Recently, an organization known as Wikileaks, released a series of documents indicating Pakistan’s Army Intelligence Agency may have been aiding and abetting both, the Taliban and foreign insurgents in Afghanistan.

The documents indicate that Pakistan, as an ally of the United States that has been receiving billions in aid from the United States, is negotiating directly with the Taliban. During these meetings it is alleged, that the ISI is strategically organizing these entities efforts in the fight against American soldiers in the region.

With Pakistan’s ongoing offensive against the Taliban and the foreign terrorists hired to support their cause in both the Swat and South Waziristan, it is difficult to find these reports offer completely accurate or up to date information. However, the conclusions gathered from the reports indicate most of the information was gathered during interviews with Intelligence officials within the Afghanistan government, a group that has been openly accusing Pakistan of being the cornerstone of instability within their nation.

The reports gathered from interviews with former U.S. government officials again, raise questions to its validity. While current reports indicate that the Bush administration has allegedly, and with foreknowledge, had for years poured millions into the Afghanistan government, handing the cash over to Afghani officials alleged to be narcotic dealers.

Are there alQaeda spies within the ISI, Pakistan’s intelligence service?

It has been reported for years that, both the current administration and former administration have suspected so and have had, closed-door meetings regarding the situation. It has also been alleged that Pakistan is posturing itself to be able to, extend their influence in post-war Afghanistan.

In an attempt not to single out the Pakistani government however, the likelihood of these suspicions would indicate yes, there are counteragents, spies within their government. Pakistan would not be alone in this arena, every nation occupying planet earth has had their fair share of double agents both, exposed and most likely still currently operating within their governments.

Meanwhile, the Obama administration’s National Security Advisor, General James Jones released a statement regarding this matter. General Jones stated, “The United States strongly condemns the disclosure of classified information by individuals and organizations which could put the lives of Americans and our partners at risk, and threaten our national security.”

The General singled out Wikileaks regarding the publication of what could be considered, documents of interest to the national security on the United States. “Wikileaks made no effort to contact us about these documents – the United States government learned from news organizations that these documents would be posted,” furthering “These irresponsible leaks will not impact our ongoing commitment to deepen our partnerships with Afghanistan and Pakistan; to defeat our common enemies; and to support the aspirations of the Afghan and Pakistani people.”

Within the press release, the administration made it publicly known that, the documents released on the internet by Wikileaks covered a period between January 2004, and December 2009 prior to the announcement regarding the Presidents decision increasing troop strength in the region. The National Security advisor added, “The United States remains committed to a strong, stable, and prosperous Afghanistan.”

In closing,  the General pointed out, “U.S. support for Pakistan will continue to be focused on building Pakistani capacity to root out violent extremist groups, while supporting the aspirations of the Pakistani people.”
