Kabul, Afghanistan (June 23) – Over the past twenty-four hours Combined Security forces in Afghanistan have seized 11 Tons of Ammonium Nitrate, 70 kilograms of Opium, and several Taliban and suspected insurgents.

Afghan National Security Forces along with ISAF members acting on intelligence Monday night, located over 11 tons of ammonium nitrate in Kabul City. As Afghan Special Police surrounded a compound used by insurgents, and ensuring all residents exited safely, and arresting the insurgents, police located the cache of explosives.

As residents were order and exited the compound, ASP located 70 kilograms of opium, resulting in the arrest of one suspect.

Afghanistan Ministry of Interior spokesperson Zemarai Bashray released the following statement, “Afghan police and their ISAF partners will continue to enforce Afghanistan’s rule of law and target the links between narcotics networks and the insurgents, as well as illegal bomb makers, in order to protect innocent Afghan civilians.”

In other action around Afghanistan, security forces detained several suspects while pursuing a Taliban commander in Zabul Province. The security forces located automatic weapons, rocket-propelled grenade boosters an ammunition, and destroyed on site.
