Luckily I live in a Country where voting is legal. Sadly, I also live in a Country with apathetic fools who think it is somehow cool to not vote, based on some uneducated idiocy and a fear of getting involved. I should also mention that these people who “don’t do politics” are the same people who, if asked, could tell you exactly what is going on with the latest Simon Cowell TV show. I understand that by living in a free Country you are free to choose to vote or not, and that the system would work a whole lot better if there was a ‘no vote’ option on the ballot, but there isn’t and by not voting you are doing one thing… Helping the people that don’t represent you get into power. It’s simple irony that most of these people chose to spend food money voting for talentless miscreants on TV, rather than someone to faithfully represent them on the world stage.
David Cameron is an idiot. A massive, massive idiot with absolutely no clue as to how a country is run, I’d be surprised if he knew how to run a piss up in a brewery. This is the man who outlined his plan to help the economy recover, which involved cutting spending; two weeks later he finally realized that it doesn’t work like that. Two weeks of reveling in his idiocy and then he altered his plans. He contradicts himself at every turn, he promotes himself as a man of the working class, but pledges to legalize fox hunting for the upper class. He takes off his tie and rolls up his sleeves and talks to you like an idiot, this is how he tries to fit in with the working class, by being a condescending asshole. He is as representative of the British working class as Grounds Keeper Willie from The Simpsons is of Scottish people… He pledges to change things that are already changing, despite what Cameron would have you believe, Labour have helped the economy, we have been moving out of it since November, and it was done not by cutting spending, but by spending our way out of it.
This is not to say that I am a supporter of Labour and Gordon Brown. I am not, but I detest the Conservatives and their nonsense so much that I would vote Labour just to know that I made some sort of attempt to prevent a Tory Government. Any other vote would pretty much help Cameron and his band of idiots. This is the problem.
I am actually considering voting for one party because of my hatred of another. This wouldn’t be such an issue if it wasn’t for the Liberal Democrats. Change is the key word of Election 2010… Cameron, from his position of poshest and most out of touch candidate offers it to us, and Brown from his position of former working class offers it too. What can either party actually change? It has been the guts of 70 years since we had a Government that wasn’t Tory or Labour, and I think it should be clear to everyone by this point that they have had a fair chance. It may be naive to expect anything other than a victory by one of the two big boys, but I’ll bet there were quite a few people in America who thought Obama didn’t stand a chance regardless of the blatant need for a Democratic, and let’s not forget educated, leader. That’s the thing about a revolution, you can’t have one without making some rash decisions, and you certainly can’t have one by simply standing by and observing. Look at America, they voted in G W Bush and for THE REST OF TIME they should be reminded of what that choice did to the world. You have the power to chose who runs your Country, and the choice shouldn’t be based on who you have always voted for, that is like a victim of domestic abuse sticking with the animal because they are afraid to leave. We don’t need either of the main parties, we need something new. Liberal Democrats plan to streamline the NHS by cutting out the unnecessary managers, some of whom get paid more than doctors, and instead put that money in the frontline staff. David Cameron and Gordon Brown plan to waste millions, if not billions of pounds on ID cards. That alone proves the difference between them.
This week saw the release of the Manifestos. Labour’s front cover looks like a communist paint by numbers, while the front cover of the Conservative Manifesto looks like a children’s book from a George Orwell novel, and it reads “Invitation to join the Government of Britain.” That one thing proves that he is a clueless imbecile and not worthy of your vote. I guess no one told him… The Government is ours, Dave, not the politicians. We invite your type in, not the other way around. Until we have an actual say on how things are done, like in many of the States in America, don’t offer it to people because there is no way of someone as clueless as David Cameron to provide that. The entire system needs overhauled, as mentioned a box for ‘no vote’ and a say in things that directly affect us. It should start with a public vote on if the Pope should be allowed into the Country after the recent developments in the situation… By situation, of course, I refer to the Pope protecting men who rape children in the name of the Lord. Amen.
If you are reading this and are British then I hope you decide to vote, I don’t care who for… This is simply my opinion on who I might vote for, there are plenty of options, the Green Party would legalize marijuana and that is the reason I always voted for them in the past, the BNP hate people that are not white and if, like them, you are an uneducated hate filled bigot then you should vote for them. David Cameron and Gordon Brown represent the same thing and that is what needs to change, there is no difference between the parties or the supporters, not anymore. The working class people who started the Labour party have all but vanished and now represent the voters of smaller parties who represent what Labour used to. The Conservative Party represent one thing and one thing only… Rich People. Just not the same rich people as Labour, that’s the only difference between the two. Liberal Democrats represent a change I would be happy to see.
I can say in all honesty that I wouldn’t care about writing or politics if it was not for Hunter S Thompson, and with that in mind I would like to finish with one of my favourite quotes by the good Doctor.
“In a nation ruled by swine, all pigs are upwardly mobile—and the rest of us are fucked until we can put our acts together: not necessarily to win, but mainly to keep from losing completely. We owe that to ourselves and our crippled self-image as something better than a nation of panicked sheep.”

I agree with you point here Herny! It is a sad time and says a lot of bad things for “our democratic” nation when people have to actively tacticlly vote just to keep a certain party out. Independents, small parties they do not get a look it! Its a 2 and 1/2 party race and sadly the Lib Dems are that 1/2 party. They have good policies and a strong manifesto, but sadly due to te first past the post system i doubt they will have enough support to win. The serious flaw is that they winner takes all, so in the majority of cases more people have voted AGAINST the winning party than for it…that does not scream ‘a government of the people, for the people, by the people’ to me, so sadly we are left with the choice of 2 parties and choosing the lesser of two evils whatever you politics might be! No wonder so many people are disillusioned!
