Somali born FIFA World Cup Singer, Keinaan, Wins Awards

The Somali-Canadian hip hopper whose songs were selected for the FIFA world cup and the Haiti fundraiser has won the artist of the year. Honoured in the Canadian industry, Keinaan Abdi Warsame has beaten out several other musicians at the Juno dinner and Gala Awards.  “I came to Canada when I was15 years old from Somalia and writing songs was what i have done to survive” said K’naan.

His famous album “Wavin” Flag was re-recorded by 50 of Canada’s best Musicians for Hiati fundraise. K’naan attracted the Canadian Music industry on awards ceremony beating out Micheal Buble, Diana Krall, Jann Arden and Johnny Rei, according to the reports. The artists’ songs are not only listed in Canada but there are several albums he had made for his ailing Somalia. K’naan  is respected in east Africa as an activist in peace whereby he arrived to Kenya several times and assisted songs for various humanitarian organizations working in Somalia crisis.

The rapper is also rated the best song writer. His songs for the world cup soccer preparations in South Africa is listened and interested while some people are worrying his successes although his former Somalia is in trouble. In his rap songs K’naan is mostly found somebody feeling scared from the Somali people and not happy with how civil war has become a behavior for the horn African nation. During the Gala awards Keinaan has thanked the Canadian people for giving him a home, he also thanked his mother and said “because when I was depressed and supposed to sleep she would let me stay up til 5am and write songs.”
