Sandstorm Moves Across Egypt Causing Ports to Close

Egypt (Apr 11) – A sandstorm is moving across Egypt. It has forced Tawfik and Ain Sukhna ports at the southern mouth of the Suez Canal, a port in the Gulf of Aqaba, and the port of El-Arish along the Mediterranean to be closed.

A small airport and a main highway in the Sinai Peninsula to also has closed because of the sandstorm. Gulf News has reported that the dust has reduced visibility greatly, and winds surged up 3.5-meter waves on the Red Sea. The winds are moving at an estimated 35km per hour.
