By: Victor Ulasi

Nigeria (Apr 21) – The Governors of the Federal republic of Nigeria have agreed on a mass execution of 300 prisoners who are on death row to create more space and reduce over crowding in the country’s prisons.

After a meeting in Abuja, Theodore Orji, the Governor of Abia state, Nigeria, said, “The 36 state governors of Nigeria has come to an agreement that prisoners who are on the death row should be executive to reduce the overcrowdings and create more room in the jails.”

Reports from the Prison headquarters indicate 330 prisoners with 300 on death row. Three hundred of these prisoners have to die so the prison can accommodate those awaiting trials. Orji further said, “Eighty percent of Nigerian prisoners are awaiting trial and those serving short term in the prison keeps increasing on daily. Those on the death row have to go in order to create room for those awaiting trial.”
