NY, NY (Apr 29) – Earlier this week, Bloomberg Businessweek released an article that confirms WorldNewsVine’s original story regarding the Unemployment Extensions Tier V Questionable Before Break, and an even earlier article referencing the current bill to extend EUC benefits until the end of 2010 stuck in committee.
Originally, information from the House Ways and Means committee mentioned that the bill, H.R. 4213 was still being worked on with talks between both the House and the Senate underway. In addition, mentioned in the earlier articles were the facts that Democrats would unlikely be able to get any legislation passed due to heavy obstructionism by way of the Senate Republicans. The Senate minority has stalled and refused to debate on at least 177 motions so far this session, the highest number ever.
Under heavy criticism and complaints aimed at WorldNewsVine, critics can now turn their attentions on other news sources for publishing what appears to be the facts, and not simply GOP spin. Bloomberg references that millions will be facing exhaustion of benefits, and that Democratic leaders are reluctant to introduce any new legislation simply knowing that the Republican Party will simply object to spending anymore funds on the unemployed via the form of unemployment extensions.
Even Senator Baucus, the sponsor of the Senate version of H.R. 4213 which is stuck in committee has mentioned he feels, enough, is enough. This information is the first allowed printed response to which, WorldNewsVine became aware in March during the original debate to which Bunning object to the House bill, that NO ADDITIONAL WEEKS will be added to the bill.
Once again, the republicans that lined our news site and attacked our reporting of the news, information gained through phone calls, and follow-up emails to members of Congress can simply do nothing but recant their behavior. There is in fact, no one single partyother than the GOP, that has been, and continues to be an obstruction to the advancement of assistance to America’s unemployed and underemployed workers. The GOp continues with this style behavior blocking much needed consumer protection regarding S. 3217 dubbed the Wall Street Finance Reform bill.
Bloomberg also draws the analogy that there are more unemployed workers without employment for over one year.
