Nigerian Senate President Thinks Gaddafi is Mentally Ill

By: Victor Ulasi

The Nigerian Senate President, Senator David Mark, has called on the Federal Government of Nigeria to ignore the recent statement by the Libyan President Muammar Gaddafi. Gaddafi claimed that the only way to maintain peace in Nigeria is for the country to divide in two, with the North being for the Muslims and South for the Christians.

David Mark further said that the Libyan President is mad and suffering from a mental disorder, since only mad people could make such a statement about a country known as the Giant of Africa. He called on Gaddafi to watch his speech against Nigeria in the future to avoid being accused of treason.

Previously, Gaddafi has called for Switzerland to be divided among Italy, Germany, and France. Mark further said that Gaddafi’s words do not deserve attention and should be ignored and that the Senate of Nigeria should not even think about debating on the words of a mad man.

The Libyan leader, while speaking with some students in his country, called for the division of Nigeria into two nations to avoid further bloodshed between Muslims and Christians. He proposed that the partitioning should follow the example of Pakistan, which was excised from India in 1947 after the Muslim minority of predominantly Hindu India founded their own homeland, led by Mohammed Ali Jinnah.

The Senate President at the plenary responded, “Why should we take him seriously, Ghaddafi needs not be glorified and given attention with a reaction. He deserves no attention. He said the same thing to Switzerland, he said the same thing to England , he said the same thing to Sweden. Why should we give him attention?”

The Libyan state news agency Jana reported that, in his remarks, Gaddafi praised the example of India and Pakistan, where he said separation saved many lives. He added that dividing Nigeria “would stop the bloodshed and burning of places of worship”.
