NATO ISAF Afghanistan | Taliban Agent Killed, Several Suspects Detained in Separate Incidents

Kabul, Afghanistan (Mar 10) – During separate ISAF joint operations, security forces killed 1 Taliban facilitator, detained several suspected insurgents for questioning, and multiple weapons caches were destroyed.

In Wardak Province, joint security forces approached a compound searching for suspected Taliban “agent” acting on local intelligence. Upon approaching the compound the Taliban suspect opened fire on the patrol and was killed during the ensuing exchange.

Several other insurgents were detained, and a weapons cache containing rocket-propelled grenades amongst other weapons were seized during the same incident.

In a search of Paktika commercial complex known to be used as a “halfway house” for militants, joint forces detaining several suspects for questioning.

Meanwhile, forces in the districts of Garmsir, and Washer districts of Helmand captured several insurgents along with, weapons and ammunitions.

Forces involved in Operation Mostarak, discovered a weapons cache in Nad-e Ali containing pressure plate detonators, Claymore mines, home-made explosives, ammunition, and small arms. Several bags of ammonium nitrate, outlawed in Afghanistan, were also seized.

In Musa Qalah district, patrols came under fire from insurgents. Several insurgents simply surrendered as forces moved in on their location. A weapons cache was also located in the vicinity and destroyed.

Weapons caches were also discovered in, Nahr-e Saraj, and Shah Joy containing rocket-propelled grenades, IED components, mortar rounds, and small-arms ammunitions.

NATO-ISAF reports, no Afghan civilians were harmed during operations.
