Health Care Reform Bill | House Debates Continue
Washington (Mar 17) – The House opened this morning with the standard morning prayer, and immediately opened the floor for the routine “one minute” rants, raves, and praises thankfully, most of the members of the house simply moved forwarded limiting these attacks on the Democrats regarding the consideration of the “deem and pass” procedure.
While awaiting the final “bill”, Health Care Reform Bill, a move on the Senate Bill would be as commendable as any. During Newt Gingrich’s reign over the House, Gingrich utilized the “Deem and Pass” tactic on over 30% of the legislation and motions placed before the House. This may explain why the GOP became enraged over the past few days; the Democratic Party is simply utilizing an old tactic of theirs, and the GOP doesn’t like it.
During a White House Press Conference yesterday, Press Secretary Robert Gibbs was pressed on this issue as well as, calling for a simple “Up or Down” vote on the Health Care bill. Gibbs responded once again that what goes on in House is what goes on in the House without setting any precedence regarding the same from the White House. Gibbs referred remaining questions on this topic to the Speaker of the House’s office.
Currently, the GOP is doing nothing regarding this entire process other than once again, standing in the way of progress.
As important to Americans as the Health Care Reform is, many millions of unemployed Americans are now left hanging once again on the brink of disaster since, the “Tax Extenders” bill has now been placed on the backburner. With the 30-day extension approaching an end and Easter Recess fast approaching as well, will the GOP House members take this same tactic on another important piece of legislation, another GOP move against the American workforce?
Phone calls, and emails in to several Congressional members regarding the “Tax Extenders Bill” have made it clear that the “Health Care Reform Bill” is standing in the way, “The tax extenders bill has not yet been worked on in the house. I don’t have a timetable for it right now.”
