Afghanistan | Insurgents Attack Kills Child, Insurgents Captured, Drugs Seized
Kabul, Afghanistan (Mar 16) – Within the last 48 hours insurgents attacking an ISAF base in Kunar Province managed to kill one child located outside the facility. Two Afghan women and two other children were also injured as several rounds fired from insurgents positions struck a civilian house located near the base.
In Khost, Afghan-international security forces searching a compound in Paru Kheyl captured four insurgents, and seized both rifles and hand grenades.
In a separate incident in the Nad-e Ali district, a cache containing a 104mm artillery round, and claymore mine, and eight pressure plates were seized and destroyed.
Qalat, ISAF forces located another weapons cache containing 11 rockets, 12 60mm mortars, 13 rocket-propelled grenades, and a 105mm artillery round. This cache was also destroyed.
A large Drug cache was seized in the Garm Ser district. During patrol a vehicle was stopped and searched. The cache consisted of 13 bags of hemp seeds weighing in at 650 kg. The three occupants were questioned, one occupant claimed ownership, and the other two were released. The hemp seeds will be destroyed.
No ISAF forces were injured in any of the operations, and with the exception of the unfortunate incident in Kunar caused by insurgents, no other civilian casualties were reported in any of the operations.
