Student pleads guilty to theft charges

A Nigerian student aged 21 (name withheld) has pleaded guilty at Abuja magistrate court for stealing a goat and three turkeys to buy some clothing for himself and fund a proposed date with his girlfriend with the money realized out of the sales of the stolen items.

World News Vine learns that the 21-year-old student was dating the so-to-say high-class woman and friend to some of the elite students in the school. The peers of the 21 year old student were said to attend an expensive party with their girlfriends which the 21 year old student could not afford and the only option is to steal a she goat and three turkeys with the intention to sale them and fund the date.

Prosecutor Yilkudi Dungji made it known to the court that the accused who is a resident of Bwari Area Council of Abuja was arrested at the Lugbe market with a she-goat and three turkeys in his possession when the goat sellers raised alarm over his missing items.

In a police investigation report made available to World News Vine, stated that the accused has made an open confession to the crime and claim responsibility. However, the prosecutor stated that the offence is punishable under section 319 of Penal Code Law of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The 21 year-old student pleaded guilty “I actually stole the she- goat and turkey with the intention of reselling them to get money to buy clothes for upkeep to belong with my peers and feel among,” the accused said.

However, the 21 year-old student was found guilty by the Abuja magistrate court, he was sentenced to one month imprisonment or to pay a fine of N3,000 (Naira) equivalent to $20 (USD), and was canned 12 strokes in the public.
