NATO ISAF | 800 kilos of hashish, guns, and explosives seized – Earthquake Northern Afghanistan

Afghan-ISAF Operations in Kandahar, Farah, Ghazni

Kabul, Afghanistan (February 28) – Over the past 24 hours a joint Afghan-international force in Spin Boldak district of Kandahar Province, seized over 800 kilograms of hashish on a trailer of a broken tractor. Led by Afghan National Police officers, the patrol discovered, seized, and transferred the narcotics to a nearby ANP compound.

Afghan Ministry Interior spokesman, Zomarai Bashan stated, “Reducing the amount of illegal drugs throughout our country reduces the insurgents’ ability to fund their operations and certainly makes our country safer for each one of us.”

In Bala Boluk district, Farah Province, Afghan National Security Forces seized a large cache of weapons consisting of three rockets, three mortar rounds, 30 hand grenades, 34 RPG warheads, 300 large-caliber machine gun rounds, a pistol and radio. The cache was turned over to the ISAF explosive ordinance disposal team for destruction.

In Kandahar city last evening, Afghan-international force captured two militants in a compound while pursuing a Taliban commander. Also located on the scene were, assault rifles, pistols, grenades, and 200 blank identification cards.

A joint operation destroyed four 107 mm rockets found in the Gelan district of Ghanzi Province.

No reports of shots fired, and no Afghan civilians were reported injured in any of these operations. Overall, there were no reports of injuries or damage to ISAF personnel or facilities following an earthquake in  north eastern Afghanistan
