As the bloody massacre of humans by humans in the name of Religion continues in Northern Nigeria which has resulted in the death of dozens, and still counting. The governors of Ekiti, Delta, Abia, Kogi, Kwara state have ordered the immediate evacuation of their various indigenes residing in the city back to their various hometown, stating that all indigenes of the state living in Jos, will be evacuated within one week.
The evacuation became necessary as the Police force have failed to restore Law and Order in the state risking more lives on per second bases, as the number of deaths increases, and the thugs frequently seen on the street, gives no option other than military intervention.
Special military arm forces have taken over the security operations in Plateau State, Nigeria suspending the Police Force, along with other security agencies, and general activities in the state. The General Officer Commanding of the Nigerian Army, Major General Saleh Maina made it known that only those on special duties such as, medical practitioners, fire fighters, journalists and government officials will be allowed to work during the curfew hours.
He further stated that policemen found outside during the curfew hours would be arrested unless he shows a written permission from the commissioner of police authorizing him to move at that hour. Stating that the order is in line with section 217 sub section 2 (c) of the 1999 Nigerian constitution and the measure is as a result of the directive of the Vice President Dr. Goodluck Jonathan who authorized the military to take-over the security in Plateau State as the Police Force has failed to restore law and order during the recent conflicts.
No one can really tell if the Military intervention was as a result of the directive from the Vice President Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, or is it another Military Regime in disguise as Maine said “only the military can provide security for residents as the police have been barred from doing so and the police are not to be seen during the hours of the curfew between 5pm to 10 am, as the crisis which started in a particular local government in Jos had spread to other areas in the state like Barkin Ladi Bokkos, Mangu and Pankshin local governments..”
In a special report made exclusively to WorldNewsVine, the Governor of Ekiti stated, “the state government would not fold its arms and watch her indigenous suffer unjustifiably in the name of religion, therefore ordered the evacuation of the state’s indigenous from Jos. The report also stated that the over 200 Ekiti indigenous living in Jos are now being camped at the University of Jos (UNIJOS), awaiting evacuation to Ekiti State, said the state government had put measures in place to provide for other immediate needs of victims of the Jos crisis.
WorldNewsVine also learned, that the state Commissioner for Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Relation, Mr. Segun Ilori, has mandated by the Ekiti state Government to handle the evacuation and oversee welfare of the people. In the intervening time, the Delta State government has commenced the evacuation of its indigenous in Jos, Plateau State, back home as the first batch of those evacuated have arrived Asaba, the state capital of Delta state. Whereas, Abia state, and Kogi State government have sent over 20 Toyota Hiace and Coaster Buses to evacuate her indigenous in Jos, while the Kwara state government is yet to send an evacuation means for her people.
As WorldNewsVine learns, one question remains unanswered, what will the people do back home as the government does not provide any means of job and feeding for the people, as leaving the people in village doing nothing may encourage civil disobedience.
