No fewer than, 150 human remains were found in wells in Kuru Local Government area of Plateau State, Nigeria after a religious crisis between the Christians and the Muslims that lasted for four days.
Ironically, there were no reports or any kind of religious crisis nor any kind of violence reported to have erupted in the region where, the remains were found in wells. The apparent cause of death, gunshots, and mutilation from what would appear to be caused by machetes. Some remains were burnt beyond recognition.
In a report made available by the Human Right Watch stated that the bloody killing occurred on Tuesday, January 19th. The report also claims that unidentified armed set of people attacked the village before 12 noon and systematically murdered the people in cold blood.
“After surrounding the town, they hunted down and attacked residents, some of whom had sought refuge in homes and a local mosque, killing many as they tried to flee and burning many others alive,” the report stated.
The volunteer who discovered the bodies said that about 60 dead bodies are still in the village but they could not get in as the village has no security and looks dangerous.
