Iraq hearings begin.

An inquiry into just how we were dragged into fighting a war on two fronts with no real reason started this week, and will hopefully expose Tony Blair for what he is, a war criminal who lied to the people who pay his wages in order to take control of Iraq and Afghanistan for what ever reason you choose to believe…  Mainly blood-lust.

This is no court of law, there are no oaths and sadly Blair can’t be sentenced to hanging or death by firing squad at the end of it, but  it is as close to a trial Blair will ever face, and surely I am not alone in hoping that he is exposed for his part in the most public and uncouth attempted land grab this century.  The inquiry, known as the Chilcot inquiry after a senior civil servant leading it officially began on July 30th, but the hearings began today.  It is expected to continue into the beginning of next year, but a definite time line is not available.

Chilcot himself has stated that the commitee is “determined” to expose the true story of the decisions made in the lead up to the invasion and subsequent occupation.  PM Brown has said that they have complete access to anything they need in the quest for the truth including classified documents.  Plans to hold the inquiry behind closed doors were thankfully denied, and it will now be televised, although with ‘Xfactor’ and ‘I’m a celebrity…’ both taking up the British publics valuable time, I guess the ratings will be low.  Tony Blair has been called as a witness and has agreed to appear, for which I’m sure he tried to command a fee, because that it what drives him, the blood of Iraqis and money.

There have already been a couple of inquiries, Hutton and Butler.  The Hutton inquiry investigated the death of David Kelly (weapons expert), the man who first appeared to back up claims Saddam had WMDs, only to then leak to the BBC that it was fabricated in order to deal with the Iraqi tyrant, Saddam had no WMDs and if it came out that  Kelly squealed he claimed he would be found dead in a field, made to look like suicide.   The British government are smart though, when they killed him, and made it look like suicide, they dumped his body in the woods instead.  Clever.  The Butler Inquiry looked into the accuracy of the intel that led to the invasion, the best it could come up with was that the sources were “seriously flawed”.  So I won’t hold my breath for this inquiry to come to the conclusion I want it to, but you never know.

Despite being concerned about Saddam, who was hiding in a hole when we were told he was plotting nuclear war, the UK Government apparently tried to distance themselves from “removing Saddam” in early 2001, which, given the ‘propaganda timeline’ as I am now calling it, proves that invading Iraq wasn’t anyting to do with the Taliban or Al qaeda, or whatever bad guys we are chasing today are called, it was to do with Bush Snr’s regrets at not taking down Saddam when he had the chance due to him being a wimp, and letting his idiot, alcoholic, former coke head son finish up for him.

I look forward to seeing where this goes, I will keep updating as the news comes in.

Yeah this is a bunch of poop. A good job for the boys who were whoopin and hollering in the wings when his finger was on the button. “But I make a commitment that once we get to our final report, we will not shy away from making criticisms, either of institutions, processes or individuals, where they are warranted.”. This was straight from Chilcot on the first day. If this was a murder trial and they said they might be critical of the accused in the findings,I’m not sure the right tone would be set. It’s gonna be an expensive whitewash. Nice piece by the way, love your stuff.
