9/11. Whose Fault is it Anyway.

Hours after the attacks on September 11th 2001 the world was introduced to one Osama Bin Laden, terror kingpin who had already tried to blow up the twin towers once before in 93.  In the immediate aftermath, once he had taken credit for the attacks on behalf of his organisation, we were informed that he was hiding in Afghanistan, in the mountains, in a cave, where we are to believe he masterminded the simultaneous attacks, carried out with military precision… from a cave.

That being the case then who in the hell is this guy?

Clearly not into low neck t-shirts, talk about inhumane.

This handsome gent is Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, apparently he is the mastermind behind the 9/11 attacks, and boss of Al Qaeda.  Along with four other terrorists, he has been banged up in G-Bay for a few years, news reports suggest he will be facing trial soon, possibly in New York, despite the State having not executed anyone in 33 years, and anything less than a gory death will cause uproar, if they are found guilty.  Morbid curiosity makes me wonder what would happen if they were found not guilty, after all they have been detained in Guantanamo and we all know what happens there if you are in the unfortunate position of being a Muslim in an orange jump suit, and what ever lawyer takes the career defining case will surely push that point big time.

This is my second bite at this, I wrote it yesterday only to have my computer wipe it when I was finished.  The report I read yesterday and the one today both fail to even mention Bin Laden.  I am more than happy to accept that at some point the powers that be declared Bin Laden ‘no longer a threat’, but seeing as the whole reason we are occupying and destroying Afghanistan (Iraq not included) was that he was hiding there somewhere… Someone needs to explain it to me.  I am not a stupid guy, nor am I particularly clever, but it would seem the spin doctors pulled the old ‘terror kingpin switcheroo’ on us, and we are so thirsty for blood that we don’t care, as long as he at least looks muslim and has some questionable tie to Al Qaeda.

President Obama has declared that the American people, and his Administration want these men to receive the harshest possible penalty for their deed, which they should, if they are guilty.  Also it is worth pointing out that this was practically G W Bush’s war cry.  To straight up not mention Bin Laden in these new reports just seems a little strange.  But we shouldn’t be surprised if he got a free pass, after all Saddam was given just that at the end of the first Gulf War.  Who knows, maybe in 20 years people will say “Bin Laden?”, to which the older generation will reply, “he was the guy who our leaders convinced us attacked America  and who was calling us names, a story we based our whole illegal occupation of Afghanistan on, only for him to be let off the hook by the good guys (us) because we found someone else to pin it on, thus not endangering the oil based relationship between the US and the Bin Ladens, and leaving everyone else to wonder, did we just get played?.”

I don’t care if Big Khalid and his ill fitting T-shirt are guilty, I was sold as story in which Bin Laden was the bad guy, I had to suffer with everyone else as we were forced to watch yet another video where he not only takes responsibility, but calls us out.  I am not one of those anti war people, war is human nature.  Iraq and Afghanistan are not wars, so they tell us, they are “conflicts”, which is spin for land grab.  The only problem is, thanks to the easy time our combined forces had in Gulf War 1, the enemy was greatly under-estimated and now that they have more than sticks and rocks they are fighting for their land.

I am rambling, my point is that Bin laden, if he were responsible is probably already dead from living in a cave, or from kidney failure, or a Special Ops took him out ages ago, or he is living on some farm in America somewhere kicking it with the Bush family, take your pick…
