4 Cops Shot Dead at Washington Coffeehouse

Parkland, Washington

Apparently one of the four Police Officers (A Sergeant and 3 Patrolmen) was able to fight their attacker before succumbing to his injuries.

A gunman entered a coffee shop this morning and opened fire on the four victims (police officers) while they were working on their laptops. It would appear two of the officers were killed where they sat, a third killed while standing up, and the fourth apparently died while struggling with the assailant. The two fought outside the doorway of the coffee shop. It would appear that the fourth departed, was able to fire shots at the suspect although, police have no one in custody at this time.

Investigators state this was a deliberate attack on the officers and not a botched robbery at the diner. The attack occurred at 8:15am Sunday while the Officers where just beginning their shifts. The patrol cars outside the diner were “marked” squad cars and the officers were in full uniform at the time of the attacks.

Sheriffs spokesmen, Ed Troyer stated that the departed names would not be released at this time however, with the size of Lakewood’s Police Department, this represented an approximate 15 percent loss in the Police force.

Troyer further states, “We have no motive at all, and I don’t think when we find out what it is, it will be anything that makes any sense or be worth it.”

Two employees and a few customers were in The Forza Coffee Shop, near McChord Air Force Base in Tacoma, were in shock and being treated. All others are okay.

The officers were two blocks outside their jurisdiction, and the coffee shop was a popular spot for cops from other jurisdictions to gather.

Investigators are examining videotaped evidence of the scene, the coffee shop is located in a small strip mall.

As stated, Investigators have no leads at this time.
