Nine Arrested At WellPoint Insurance Sit-In | MichaelMoore.com.
Simone Morse, a 19-year old student at Hunter College, was the first to be handcuffed and pulled up from the floor this morning at 1 Liberty Plaza in lower Manhattan, the corporate offices of WellPoint, one of the largest health insurers in the United States.
Cameron Gibson, a 23-year-old medical student at SUNY Downstate, was one of the next to go, followed by Frank Broadhead, a 67-year-old senior on Medicare, who was carried out on his back and deposited into a nearby police van by two members of the New York Police Department. In total, nine protesters were arrested on Wednesday morning on charges of disorderly conduct and/or trespassing, according to an NYPD officer on site who spoke off the record.
–EDITORIAL COMMENTS–
This certainly was not a good move on the behalf WellPoint. In an industry that is already wrought with an image of being money-hungry, godless, and utterly unethical, WellPoint has just made the case. Ostensibly, by calling the police and ordering the removal of peaceful protestors, WellPoint has done itself some media and image harm. How can a company with the soft-sounding, concerned name like WellPoint obviously do the reverse of what its name suggests? When all is said and done, WellPoint has the appearance of being The Gestapo. We have hopefully seen the end of abuse by the health insurancy industry, but the executives refuse to go down without a fight: but their fight is only strengthening our resolve and cause.

Truly amazing, yet another corporation that will sell you the world to get your business but, obviously once participants become unhappy, WellPoint cannot achieve customer satisfaction resulting in protestors appearing at their doorsteps.
I guess if your customers just can’t “get it” when they are being told to take flying leap by their online support staff, then simply have the unhappy members arrested.. sound corporate advice

Of course, this was one of the few industries outside of the norm backed by the GOP. Typical GOP modus operandi involves monetary interest in what cometh from the ground. GOP has heavy presence in precious metals mining as well as oil. There is some parallel as both the healthcare and mining industries represent a rape of the natural world. Thoughts, anyone?
